'Glorious' Quilt in Sweet Orchard

I made a quilt! A Christmas quilt to be precise. When my friend (and fellow Riley Blake designer) Nadra of Ellis & Higgs showed me her newest quilt pattern (called 'Glorious'), it was a case of 'drop-everything-and-sew-this-right-now'. I adore it so much!

To make this quilt I used a selection of prints from my debut fabric collection 'Sweet Orchard' for Riley Blake. The dotty print is a personal favourite of mine and works wonderfully in a festive quilt, and the bias stripes are perfect for the binding. The cute reindeer mug is a recent purchase from Pottery Barn (Australia).

When I showed the quilt to my husband he took a long time inspecting it before delivering his verdict, wording it very carefully: "Don't be angry... I can see they are meant to be apples, but to me they look more like Christmas baubles..." He was so relieved when I told him actually they were baubles - so hillarious! I think he got confused as I made a few apple themed quilts recently!

The wonderful swirly quilting is reminiscent of baubles and was done by my local long arm quilter Elaine from Quilting in the Vines. The quilt also got the Alice tick of approval and was declared to be 'hers' - she is accumulating quite a hefty collection of quilts and cushions in her bedroom!

My quilt is slightly smaller than the one in Nadra's pattern as I had to turn this around rather quickly in the run up to Nadra's release of the pattern. It is now available to download digitally from her Etsy shop - a lovely and clever pattern that is quick to sew up, very well written with clear cutting and piecing instructions. Highly recommend!
